MORGAN!

A Suitable Case For Treatment
1966

(comedy-drama)

Thumbnails:

David Warner
plays Morgan Delt, an excentric artist who can't get over his divorce with a beautiful bourgeoise, Leonie.
His mental condition is extremely illegal!

Karel Reisz
directed the film
(He also directed David Warner in The French Lieutnant's Woman)

David Mercer
wrote the screenplay
(He also wrote Providence's script)
(He was David Warner's best friend until his death in the early 1980s)

Vanessa Redgrave
plays Leonie Delt who tells Morgan at one point:
Everyone takes you seriously until they get to know you...
(Ms. Redgrave won the Best Actress prize at Cannes
and was nominated for an Oscar)

(Ms. Redgrave and David Warner would be a couple again in The Seagull)

Robert Stephens
(1931-1995)
plays Charles Napier, Morgan's rival in Leonie's heart
(Mr. Stephens and DW would years later have a scene opposite each other in Holocaust)

Irene Haindl
(1901-1987)
plays Morgan's socialist mother

Bernard Bresslaw
(1934-1993)
plays the friendly cop
(He was a member of the Carry On team)

My opinion:
Morgan! is truly one of the best films ever made
and certainly gave David Warner his best role ever.

Morgan! is unfortunately not available
on VHS or DVD at this time.
